                   Restoration Services

Complete overhaul*, lubrication, and adjustment services are offered on antique and contemporary mechanical clocks. Most clocks can be brought to Bell-Time - - by appointment, please -- where firm written estimates on repair costs will be provided.    Costs can be determined from the listing below.

Housecalls are required for large grandfather clocks, although major work on these clocks is done back at the shop.  Normally, the movements are removed on-site and the cases remain at the customer's home.

Glass replacements, and wooden and metal casework repairs, cleaning, and polishing services also are available.  Full restorations can be arranged with nearby woodworking specialists.

*It's not overwound!   All clocks are designed to be fully wound up.   If your clock  won't run when tightly wound, it requires the professional overhaul needed for all  mechanical machines when worn and dirty after years of faithful non-stop service.  Overhaul includes complete disassembly, close inspection and ultrasonic and hand  cleaning of all parts, bushing of worn bearings, mainspring repair or replacement   as needed, reassembly, lubrication with special oils and greases, and extensive  testing and adjusting.  Most repairs are completed within five weeks.

Sorry, no repairs offered on cuckoos, cheap alarm clocks, or most battery clocks.
